"Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it." Mary Oliver
I am drawn to the history, relationships, context and connections behind and between things. Whether they are tangible objects, relics of a time gone by, or intangible memories and associations, my work focuses on creating space for and giving honour to our interconnectedness.
I am a collector of ideas, of images, of mementos and artifacts. Relics and symbols of the past illuminate and inform my interpretation of the signs I see and experience around me today. Markers of what has been and may no longer be call me to observe, reflect and bear witness, not only to those that have gone before, but also to my presence and impact on the world around me. Lines of connection found around me in my urban world call me to remember my place in this great story.
My work acknowledges the past and how it shapes the present; it bears witness to what connects me to another and creates space for the stories that come out of those places.
